I originally wrote this on 01/14/1999 but I've updated it on Dec 21, 1999.

Someone pointed out http://www.insightmag.com/articles/story2.html as their proof of a Clinton/China connection. In my reply, I made the following points:
Subject: Re: Clinton and PLA

Topic: http://www.insightmag.com/articles/story2.html

Point 1:
Consider the source. Not a reputable magazine. It's biased to
the point that they'll "float" rumors to see if they "stick".
	Dog the wag.

Point 2:
Geeeze Lousie! It sounds like 1950's red scare kind of
writing. Does this guy check for commies under the carpet
every time he walks into a room?

Point 3:
It's easy to make allegations and say that your proof has been
classified. I claim to have a 15 inch dick, but I can't open my
pants in front of you without top secret clearance.

Counter Point:
Don't you realize that it is important to build up distrust in
China? When this whole stupid internet fad passes the U.S.
will have to find other sources of economic development and
nothing beats a war against "our new-found enemy... China".
Gosh, how did those squinty-eyed Chinamen hide for all those
years? Luckily, we'll have all this rumor mongering developed
over 2 decades to rely on.

MARK MY WORDS: THE RIGHT WING IS PREPARING TO BUILD UP CHINA AS THE
NEW ENEMY AS SOON AS THEY LOSE THE BATTLE AGAINT G/L/B/T'S.

This URL is just part of the preparation. It's a beta test.

The truth is, China is 1/4 of the world yet lives in poverty. They
only got heated homes in the last 20 years, and that comes from burning
coal. Their economy could not sustain a war. Their technology could
not win a 2-week conflict with my 15-inch dick. However, the U.S.
population knows so little about them (except that they make Egg Foo
Young and they are all Karate experts) that building up misinformation
so we want to go to war with them is easy.

Gosh, I thought I was netsexing on the internet for the orgasms. I
didn't realize I was extending world peace!

As an afterthought, I later found http://www.cato.org/dailys/01-06-99.html which seems to indicate that China is moving a lot faster towards capitolism that they admit. Maybe the real problem is that the capitolists in the US are afraid of a new competitor and are trying to bad-mouth China before China does to the US what Japan did to us in the 70's.
